Introducing our New Pastel Plein Air Package. We know how expensive good pastels are. Our new system is thoughtfully designed to pack and protect your pastels to go paint plein air!
MADE IN THE U.S.A. (Major Components, Except Tripod)
The En Plein Air Pro Pastel Plein Air Package, with our Pro Series Panel Holder and exclusive Dust Ledge is innovative, lightweight and very functional for pastel plein air painting. The panel holder is structural aluminum channel with two ABS brackets and includes our exclusive Dust Ledge which helps keep the pastel dust out of the palette tray. The maximum height from the ground to the top of the panel holder or canvas is approximately 72”. It mounts on the SLIK U8000 Tripod with a quick release plate (included). We paired the panel holder with this medium duty tripod for its wide stance with increased stability.
The Pastel Palette with Cover includes a tray insert with six foam sections for organizing your pastels. The tray insert can hold up to 108 pastels. The cover has a foam mat adhered to the inside to protect your pastels when you close the cover. Max height to top of palette from the ground is 35″. The palette cover with foam doubles as a palette “shade” (important when comparing color values outside.) The cover is held vertically by a retractable bungee cord. The palette has two slide out shelves with 5 grooved channels on each shelf to hold your pastels that are actively in use.

Unpack your gear.
Start with the tripod.
Using the fliplocks extend the legs of the tripod to your desired height.
Once extended lock the legs into place with the fliplocks.
Crank the center column up to the desired height. Turn the center locking collar to a snug position to hold the column in place.
Next, take the palette and slip it onto the legs of the tripod.
Unhook the bungee cord from the shelves.
Pull out both sliding shelves approximately 6”.
Lift the cover from the palette and position it at the back of the palette against the center column of the tripod. Then take the bungee cord and hook one end of the cord in the hole located on the left corner of the cover. Take the cord behind the cover and stretch it around the back of the tripod center column and insert the other hook into the slot on the right side of the lid.
Next, take the Panel Holder and look for the quick release plate that is already screwed onto the aluminum channel (don't unscrew or remove this plate).
Then, look at the top of the tripod and locate the pan head that this plate fits into.
Pull down the grey lever on the left side of this pan head and insert the quick release plate.
Push the lever back up into place to secure the easel to the tripod.
Adjust the panel holder brackets 90 degrees by loosening the star knobs. Adjust the height of the brackets to fit your panel. Place your panel in the brackets and tighten the star knobs to ensure a snug fit.
Next, add the dust ledge under the bottom bracket by unscrewing the star knob from the back of he dust ledge. Put the dust ledge (screw) through the open channel of the panel holder. Then screw the star knob back onto the screw (the knob should be on the back of the panel holder similar to the brackets.) Tilt the panel holder slightly forward so the pastel dust falls freely from the panel and lands in the dust ledge. To empty the dust ledge, simply loosen the star knob and tilt the ledge to either side to empty.
Attach the spring clamp to the tripod leg above the palette for more stability.
